Learning to Learn
The last week of school has now arrived and the students are busy preparing for the holidays. Making Christmas decorations, cleaning out thier tubs and generally having a great time. We are preparing for our concert on Thursday and are excited about a visit from Santa.
We hope everyone has a Merrry Christmas and Safe New Year.
With only a few weeks left of the school year, everyone is busy, christmas shopping. At school we are busy learning to swim and practising for our end of year concert. We have all learnt so much this year both inside and outside of the classroom, and its almost time to wind down.
Over the year we have covered some great topics – Endangered Australian Animals, Insects, Healthy Living and Safety.
This week we will be learning about fire safety. We are really looking forward to having the local fire truck come to visit. We will be learning about STOP, DROP, ROLL; What to do in a fire situation and why we don’t play with fire and matches.
What a busy week. On Monday we jumped on the bus and went to the Traffic School to learn about crossing the road safely. That was great fun, pretending to be pedestrians and car drivers. Can anyone tell us what a pedestrian is?
We have also made some vegetable critters from our very own vegetable garden. It was great fun working with the grade 3/4s. Today we are going to enter them in to the local Flower and Garden Show. It will be great to share our work with the community.

This week we have been playing with Sony Jam Trax. We have been have a lot of fun putting different sounds together. This is our very first song. Each student contributed a sound from the program to make this song.
Welcome back, after some great sunny weather over the holidays. The children are excited to be back for an action packed term full of fun and learning. The past week we have been learning about safety on farms. As some of the children are from a farming background. This week we are learning about Stranger Danger. It is ok to say NO to an adult. if they are asking you to do something that makes you feel uncomfortable.
Well there is only a couple of days left until the end of term. We are busy finishing our work on healthy Living. Next term we will be learing about being safe. We will be covering water safety, stranger danger, traffic safety and safety in our homes. We will also be going on an excursion to a traffic school. So rest up kids for an action packed term.
I have also added a link for an interactive math site, that the whole school is enjoying. Miss W is addicted to ‘The Orb’ game. Why not give it a try.
Throughout the term we have been learning about healthy living. We learnt about the Olympics and were able to watch and enjoy on the interactive whiteboard in class. We have also learnt about being healthy. Here are some of the things we learnt….
You don’t eat heaps of unhealthy food – BB
Having heaps of sleep – BL
Drink lots of water – CB
Healthy fruit – AF
You get exercise from sport – CM
There are five food groups – BT
This week we are learning about values. We learning to be truthful and honest. Why this is important and how it can impact our lives.
This week we have been learning about the Olympics. We talked about the opening ceremony and how many different events there are. We even made some medals and Olympic torches.
